I was born in England and contracted Polio at the age of three. I only remember getting out of bed and falling down. Evacuated at the age of five and therefore no treatment. I became really well in my early teens and led an extremely active life but at the age of thirty my leg became thin and weak. I now wear a brace on the left leg and am waiting for a hip replacement on the right. I can accept all this but the continual pain and exhaustion are the worst things to adjust to!

However, five kids and many grandkids are wonderful company and I count my blessings as I knew many others who had far worse outcomes!
